NFA amended Interpretive Notice 9002 on branch office registration requirements. - 15 June 2026
Effective July 1, 2026, NFA amended Interpretive Notice 9002 on branch office registration requirements.
-
The amendments allow a branch office manager to supervise multiple branch offices, if the firm conducts a risk-based analysis and determines it is appropriate.
-
They also permit remote supervision (full or part-time), provided the firm can justify it based on the circumstances.
-
Firms must adopt tailored supervisory procedures to ensure effective oversight in both multi-branch and remote supervision arrangements.
-
The changes align NFA requirements with FINRA, reducing regulatory burden for dual registrants.
-
Members can update branch manager statuses in NFA’s Online Registration System starting July 1, 2026.
The amendments increase flexibility (multi-branch and remote supervision) but require firms to support those arrangements with documented, risk-based supervisory controls.
