NFA introduces Fieldprint as designated fingerprinting service provider - 01 April 2026
Effective October 1, 20261, individuals required to provide fingerprints to NFA must submit them through Fieldprint, NFA's new designated fingerprinting service provider.
Fieldprint, an experienced fingerprint service vendor and FBI-approved Channeler, will electronically collect fingerprints and submit them to the FBI for processing. Fieldprint will then share the results of the fingerprint check with NFA.
All NFA Member firms must activate an account with Business Information Group (BIG)—Fieldprint's sister company—before individuals can schedule a fingerprinting appointment with Fieldprint. Firm account activation must only be completed once. NFA strongly encourages each Member firm to begin the account activation process as soon as possible to ensure its completion prior to the October 1, 2026, effective date.
The account activation process takes 10-20 minutes to complete and does not need to be completed in one sitting. BIG provides step-by-step instructions within the system. Before beginning the process, firms should have their NFA ID (excluding any leading zeros), address and contact information ready and consider these important items:
-
Each firm must review and sign the BIG Service Agreement as part of the account activation process. NFA's website contains a read-only, printable version of the agreement.
-
Each fingerprint card costs $17.50. During the account activation process, each firm will elect either to cover the fee for the individual or require the individual to pay for the service themselves. Please note: BIG only accepts payment via credit card.
-
For firms that already have active accounts with BIG, there is no need to complete the account activation process. However, these firms must sign an amended agreement to establish the NFA schedule. For assistance, please contact scosello@bigreport.com.
Once the firm's Fieldprint account is active, BIG provides the firm a unique Fieldprint code, which U.S.-based individuals will utilize (along with the firm's NFA ID) to schedule a fingerprinting appointment via the Fieldprint scheduling website. After scheduling an appointment, Fieldprint will provide a confirmation email to the individual containing all pertinent information.
Fingerprint process tracking is available on the Fieldprint website, and results are typically available in less than one hour following a fingerprinting appointment.
Individuals located outside the U.S. will use their firm's NFA ID and unique Fieldprint code to request a physical fingerprint card, instead of scheduling a fingerprinting appointment. Fieldprint will send the fingerprint card via FedEx and will include instructions on how to properly complete it and submit fingerprints for processing.
Fieldprint provides answers to frequently asked questions on their website. For questions regarding this new procedure, please contact NFA's Information Center (information@nfa.futures.org or 312-781-1410 or 800-621-3570).
1 For any 8-R completed online prior to October 1, 2026, individuals may elect to either submit their fingerprint cards to NFA or, if the firm has completed Fieldprint account activation, submit them through Fieldprint.
